THE LIVELY | Great for two; for four, check whether the Loft beds are actually the four beds you imagined

THE LIVELY FUKUOKA HAKATA fits travellers who keep their evenings around Nakasu, but room type matters more than the hotel name. The current Standard Twin is 18m² with two 120cm beds, and the shower, toilet and washbasin are separated. For two friends, that is efficient: one person can shower while the other uses the washbasin or gets ready for bed. The cost is floor space. Two large suitcases, jackets, sneakers and convenience-store bags can turn an 18m² design-hotel room into a constant obstacle course by night two.

The Comfort Loft and Deluxe Loft are where group bookings can go wrong. The hotel currently describes its Loft rooms around 220cm-wide bunk-style beds; the Deluxe Loft can accommodate up to five people, but capacity does not mean five independent beds. CROOM Hakata Gion | For three friends, the useful feature is a second bathing route—not a sauna

Nishitetsu Hotel CROOM Hakata Gion becomes interesting for three friends because the room and public facilities can work together. The current Triple Japanese-style room is 25.8m², provides three single sleeping positions including a bunk-style arrangement, and has a separate bath, toilet and independent washbasin. The Standard Twin is 19.2m² and also separates bath, toilet and vanity.

The group advantage is the public bath: one person can use the communal bath while the others use the room, so the hotel can create two bathing routes. Do not shortlist CROOM as a sauna hotel. Royal Park Canvas Fukuoka Nakasu | A room can sleep four without giving four people equal beds

The Royal Park Canvas Fukuoka Nakasu is a useful example of the difference between room capacity and bed quality. The current Sky Floor Deluxe Twin is 37.96–38.76m² and can take up to four guests, but the arrangement is two 110cm regular beds plus two 100cm sofa beds. The Premium Twin Riverside can also accommodate four with two regular beds plus two extra beds. If the group agrees to that split, you are buying one large room, a Nakasu location and the shared-room atmosphere together. How to price a sauna or public bath | Ask who will use it and at what time, not whether the hotel has one

Four adults are easiest to fool with the per-person average | Put bed quality and bathroom capacity back into the price

Take an illustrative comparison: one four-person room at ¥40,000 (about US$251 / NT$8,000 / HK$1,970) looks like ¥10,000 each (about US$63 / NT$2,000 / HK$492). Groups often suggest moving to Hakata for the final night “because tomorrow is easier”, but a hotel move consumes check-out time, luggage storage, retrieval and another check-in. If the flight is comfortably later in the day or the group still plans to eat breakfast in the city, moving can solve less than it costs.
